Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack Review - 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack- Video
Hello everybody, Clayton here at etrailer and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat Transfer V2 bike rack for our 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack. Today, we have our rack installed on an inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube but this also works with two inch hitches. And today, we are lookin at the single bike version but if you did want a two bike version you can find that here at each trailer. This rack is gonna be a great option for ya. It's gonna work great with any bike you might put on it. As you can see, we have a carbon frame bike on here today, just uses the single wheel mount with a wheel strap in the back so nothing's going to be making contact with our bikes frame. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Volkswagen GTI- Video
Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2018 Volkswagen GTI, we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Helium Platform Bike Rack.So today we have the two-bike version, but there's also a one-bike version available as well. Now, one of the main things that really separates this rack from many of the other platform style racks is that our bike is going to be held in place with two wheel hooks, so one in the front and one in the back. So it gives us a lot of security, and we're not going to have to deal with any straps or pins and clips, anything like that. But with that being said with the two-bike versions, a lot of times when you go to put that second bike on the rack, the handlebars end up kind of interfering with the seat, and it can be kind of difficult to get everything lined up how you want it. That's not the case with this one. more

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2018 Volkswagen GTI, we're going to be taking a look at the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 two bike platform rack. So today on our Volkswagen, we have the Pearl white version, but it's also available in black as well as gray. So after having the rack on the back of the GTI, I really like it for a few different reasons, one of the big ones being that we're still going to be able to have full hatch access, even when we have a couple of bikes loaded up back here. To do that, there's going to be a lever here. Push down on it and lower the bikes down. more

Adam: Hi everyone, Adam from etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Swagman Current electric bike rack on our 2014 Volkswagen Passat. This is going to be able to hold up to two electric bikes and one of the main features that I want to show you is it's tilting feature.So all you got to do is just pull this green lever towards the back, and what that's going to do it's going to allow you to tilt these with the bikes installed, which is very convenient and nice. And then you can grab anything out of your trunk, whether it be a backpack, helmets, maybe even a lunch or two. Whatever may be in there that you need access, with your bikes installed you won't have an issue.And then whenever you're really done you just got to push it back up into place, it'll snap to let you know it's nice and secure. So let me go ahead and show you how easy it is to take this off the rack. more

This is going to be able to hold up to two electric bikes. And one of the main features with this bike rack is you can actually tilt with these heavy electric bikes installed.All you got to do is you just got to undo this pin and clip down here. You might have to push up on this lever a little bit, pull that out and pull this little pressure pin.And that's going to do, it's going to allow you to access your trunk of your Passat without anything hitting or anything like that. You can grab your book bag, your lunches, your helmets, whatever you need. more

Now this is a very nice hanging style rack, and you're really just getting you bang for your buck when you have this rack. It's going to install on your inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver or two inch by two inch receiver of your vehicle. On our Passat we have an inch and a quarter, but if you have another vehicle in your household it'll work for that one as well.Now, we have three different points on our hitching post where our bike is secured. more

Today we have a 2014 Volkswagen Passat, and we're going to do a test of the Thule Apex XT 4 Bike Hanging Style Rack.Now this bike rack is going to allow you to haul up to four bikes to and from your destination. It's nice being able to get a four bike rack on a sedan like our Passat because you don't see too many four bike platform racks having that 1-1/4" adaptability which is the hitch that fits this Passat. So it's pretty nice if you have a Passat, you want to be able to carry a family of bikes or even if you want to go out with your friends, you can fit four on here.We have an onboard cable lock which comes from the mast of the bike rack. Bring it over your bikes, and it goes into the lock right there. You just use your included key to lock it up, and it's going to be a great theft deterrent. more

RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Volkswagen Passat- Video
Colin: Hey everyone, I'm Colin here at etrailer.Today we have a 2014 Volkswagen Passat. WE're going to do a test fit with the RockyMounts WestSlope 2 Bike Platform Rack. Now the WestSlope is going to be able to haul up to 2 bikes, to and from your destination.It's got two different points where it's going to grip your bike. The back one, we have a strap securing the rear wheel onto the cradle right here and up front, we're going to have a wheel hook that is putting downward force on top of our front wheel forcing it down into the wheel tray down there.Now what's really cool about all four of the wheel cradles, we come to this empty one right here, is that it actually has a slot right here, which is going to be able to securely fit your road bike tires, which is what we have loaded right now. And then as you get wider, it'll be for your wider mountain bike tires, you'll be able to put mountain bikes tires up to three inches wide on this bike rack.Now another really cool feature about the WestSlope is it's got a tiered loading system, meaning that as we get from the first bike to the second bike, it's actually going to sit a bit higher and that's going to help drastically improve your ground clearance.So, if we take a measurement, we'll measure our ground clearance at the back of the rack. That's going to be 26 inches of ground clearance, which is a lot better due to having a sedan, because it does sit lower to the ground, you want something that's going to be able to clear any inclines you go up or speed bumps or curves and stuff like that. more

Inno Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Volkswagen Passat- Video
Hey guys, today we have a 2014 Volkswagen Passat, and we're gonna do a test on the inner vertical hang 4-by hang style rack. Notice the hitch mounted bike rack, that's gonna allow you to carry up to four bikes to and from the trails, has a unique way of holding your bikes for a hanging style rack. Rather than having two of the support posts right here, being parallel to the ground, it's gonna have two vertical posts at a perpendicular to the ground. And where it grips your bike, it's gonna be at the top, right here we have a cradle, kind of wedged up between the junction of the down tube and the top tube right here, it's kind of wedged up in there. You pull it down, it's not moving too much, and then we just use that strap to secure it. Then down here we're gonna have support on the center part of our down tube. more

Our Kuat transfer 2 is gonna be a 2-bike platform rack that's gonna have a lot of features that are gonna come in handy.I know a lot of times, we'll have our bikes loaded up and we're either getting ready to leave or getting ready to go out riding our bikes and we forget something in the back hatch. So, instead of taking all the bikes off and having to deal with all that hassle, if we come to the foot lever here, we can push down and with our bike still loaded, we can tilt the rack away from our car and we'll be able to get into our hatch and get anything in or out that we may need. And it's simple to put it back in place. We can simply just lift up and it'll latch back in.Now, our bikes are gonna be held by two points of contact. more

Malone Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Volkswagen Passat- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Volkswagen Passat we're gonna be taking a look at the Malone Runway two bike platform rack for inch and a quarter to two inches, and that's gonna be part number MPG2149.As you can see, we do have a bike installed, so let's take a closer look and show off some of these features. As we see, we have two wheel trays for each bike we would have installed. These wheel trays are adjustable side to side on the bike rack. You simply loosen inside it to meet the specific length of bike you might have. These trays right here can accommodate wheel sizes from 20 to 29 inches and wheel widths of up to three and a half inches. Each tray is gonna have a hook and loop strap to secure your bike wheel into the tray.If you look up here, we're gonna see this nice padded frame hook that is securing the top of our frame down into the wheel trays. more

Inno Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Volkswagen Passat- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Volkswagen Passat we're going to be test fitting the Inno Aerolight 4-bike rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. That's going to be part number INH640. We do have a bike installed. So let's take a closer look at some of the features.If we start at the outside and work our way in we're going to see this nice integrated cable lock system that comes out from the base of the bike rack, wraps around the frame of your bikes and simply goes into this slot right there. You will get a set of keys with your bike rack so when you want to unlock the cable you simply slide up this little tab right here, and you have the insert for your key to unlock your cable and then you can unload your bikes. This cradles we have are adjustable left and right, and back and forth along the bike rack. more

To do that, holding onto the bike rack, we'll push this pedal down here and let it come forward. Now with it tilted away, we're going to have total access to our rear trunk area so we can get whatever we need. We'll just lift it back up into its original position and set the keys aside. How this actually attaches to the bike rack, we're going to have two points of contact. more

Hollywood Racks Trail-Rider Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Volkswagen Beetle- Video
Today on our 2012 Volkswagen Beetle, we're going to be test fitting the Hollywood Rack Sport Rider Two-Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches, part number HR200. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. First off, you can see that the bike rack has a raised shank to it, so even if your hitch does sit particularly low to the ground, it's not going to create any issues of clearance between your bike rack and the ground. The wheel cradles are adjustable along the arms by loosening and tightening these knobs, and this is to accommodate both loading and to accommodate bikes of different sizes as well. How the bike actually grips to the bike rack, we'll have three points of contact. At the base, we'll have these hook-and-loop straps with each wheel, and then we'll have this padded frame hook up at the top, and it's padded to ensure that your bike's frame doesn't get scratched once it's being installed. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. We'll start with the hook-and-loop straps, and then move on to our frame hook. more

The bike rack does have a raised shank to it, so even if your hitch does sit particularly low to the ground, you're not going to have an issue of clearance between your bike rack and the ground. The wheel trays are adjustable back and forth by loosening and tightening these knobs. This is to accommodate both loading and to accommodate bikes of different sizes as well. How it grips your bike to the bike rack, it's going to have one point of contact and it's going to be this padded frame hook up at the top. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Volkswagen Touareg- Video
Today on our 2016 Volkswagen Touareg we'll be having a look at the Thule T2 Pro Two Bike Platform Rack, part number TH9034XT. All right, here's what our bike rack looks like on the back of our vehicle with a bike on it. Now we have the bike in place, we'll go over a few key features of our bike rack. One nice thing that I really like about this rack compared to others is that there is no frame contact at all on our bike, making it an ideal bike rack for carbon bikes, such as the one that we have here. Another great feature is the fact that we can tilt our bike rack away from the vehicle without having to remove our bikes in order to gain access to the rear hatch. We'll show you that in action now. We'll just pull back on this handle here at the rear, lower it on down. more

Today on our 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan, we're doing a test fit on the Thule T2 Pro Platform Style Two Bike Rack. That part number is TH9034. Now we already have our bike secured down, we're going to go over some features, show you how we secure our bike into place and take a few measurements. The first feature I want off by showing is our tilting feature, because we can do this with our bike rack fully loaded. We're going to squeeze the handle towards the back and lower that down away from our hatch door, and we can open that up. As you can see, we've got a lot of room between our handlebars and our door. Now a measurement that might help you is that we have about nine inches from the middle of our handlebars to the outer edge, so if you have any that are even a little bigger than this, we're still going to have a lot of room there to get those handlebars past that door, which means we can get into our back hatch area and get anything in our out that we may need. more

As you can see, we've already got our bike up here, you can see what it's going to look like. Once you have it fully assemble with the bike in place on the back of your vehicle. This bike rack does come with your inch and quarter shank as well as the 2 inch adapter. We'll fit your class one, 2 and 3 receivers. Note also that on the bottom side where your shank is connected to your receiver, you're going to have a 3 quarter inch anti-ratible, that's going to help to reduce a lot of the sway, rattle and wobble that you would normally have. more

Today, on our 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI, we'll be doing a test fit of the Swagman trail head. This will your hanging style four bike rack, for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. It's going to be part number S63380. With this class 1 receiver that we have here today, which is 1-1/4", it's only going to be able to hold a max capacity of two bikes on this four bike rack. Let's go ahead and plug it into our receiver that we have here. Once you get it inserted, let's go ahead and line up our pinholes and insert our anti-rattle bolt. This anti-rattle bolt's going to help to eliminate a lot of the sway, rattle, and wobble that we may have in our bike carrier. more

Saris Bike Porter Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2003 Volkswagen New Beetle- Video
Today on our 2003 new Beatle, we'll be doing a test fit of the Saris Bike Porter 4 bike rack. It's going to be part number SA404B. It has an 1-1/4" shank for the class 1 hitch that we have here today. We're going to go ahead and take in that shank and insert it into our receiver. Next we'll line up the pin holes. Once you get them lined up, go ahead and thread in the bolt, anti-rattle bolt, as far as you can by hand. Once you get it threaded in as far as you can by hand, go ahead and take a 3/4" socket and tighten it up the rest of the way. more

Today on our 2014 Volkswagen Touareg, we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler tilting 5-bike rack. That's part number HR9200. We'd go ahead and start by inserting our shank into our receiver. We're looking for our pinholes to be lined up. We can take our anti-rattle bolt and begin threading that. Once you get that hand tightened, you can go ahead and tighten the rest of the way down with our socket wrench. more

Thule Helium Aero Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan- Video
Today on our 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan we're going to be test fitting the Thule Helium Aero. This is a folding and tilting 2-bike rack. It's been designed for use with 1-1/4" or 2" hitches. Part number on it is TH9042. Now if you need an extra spot we also have this available as a 3-bike, part number TH9043. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. As we do we'll want to hold out on the black attached pin, line up our pinholes, then allow that pin to go in through our pinhole. more
